I am so proud to announce that I have been awarded the Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community 2020, by the Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Richard Billington.
Giving back to the community wherever possible is something that’s hugely important to me. So, I try to do it as often as I can! With the team from Delivered Social, I’ve done some pretty cool things over the last year or so, that have benefitted local charities and the wider community.
For example, we’ve walked on fire for Oakleaf Enterprise, organised a sleepy flash mob in the high street for Real Change Guildford, and hosted more RAK Days than I think I can remember! (If you don’t know, RAK stands for Random Acts of Kindness! We deliver little treats to businesses in Guildford to brighten their days, and donate money to charity in the process). We’ve also supported countless charities and other non-profits with marketing help, including websites, social media, and more. This includes national charities such as Sands, which is very close to my heart. All of this was all through the Delivered Social Green initiative, a new arm of the business dedicated to social impact such as this.
The Mayor’s Award and Surrey Drive
Perhaps the most special bit of community work I’ve been involved in is Surrey Drive. This is alongside the Surrey Event Professionals team and plenty of others! We’ve all got involved to deliver hot meals to NHS staff in Surrey. What started as a small gesture to try and give something back to those working so hard during the Covid-19 crisis has snowballed in the very best way. We’ve raised over £25,000 and delivering thousands of meals a week! Plus, we’ve lit up the Cathedral blue in support of our carers, which is pretty cool…
The award aims to recognise and encourage positive community working within the borough of Guildford. I think that’s certainly something I’ve aspired to do with Delivered Social. So, thank you to everyone who nominated me, I really couldn’t have done it without you. I’m so, so proud to be part of such an amazing local community who. As a town, we always go above and beyond to help others and I love being a part of that. I’m looking forward to doing even more crazy stuff in the years to come!
